SONYA (SOHN) PLENEFISCH - costume, props, puppet, and set designer
Sonya Plenefisch is a performance designer/maker currently based in NYC. They graduated with a first class honors degree in design for performance from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, Wales and in 2017, they were one of the emerging designers in Great Britain shortlisted for the prestigious Linbury Prize for Stage Design, with their work shown in the corresponding exhibition at the National Theatre, London.
In NYC, recent scenic and/or costume design credits include The House of Bernarda Alba (Gene Frankel Theatre), Heist! (Players Theater), Troilus and Cressida (Under St. Marks Theatre), Their Food Tastes Better When They See Us Starving (or, Coriolanus) (The Brick), Macbeth (Target Margin Theater), and Sign in the Six O’Clock Sky (Theatre for the New City). Upcoming spring 2019 designs include Refuge (Blessed Unrest/Baruch Performing Arts Center) and Bound (Amerinda, Inc/Theatre for the New City).
