kristin sgarro - music director, composer, director
Kristin Sgarro is a teaching and performing artist in New York City.
After graduating with a BA in Theatre and Philosophy from Muhlenberg College, Kristin started working as an actor almost exclusively in Shakespeare's canon, and in that time has appeared in Romeo & Juliet (Romeo), Twelfth Night (Viola, Olivia), The Merry Wives of Windsor (Mistress Page), Othello (Emilia), A Midsummer Night's Dream (Helena, Hermia), As You Like It (Celia), Richard III (Queen Margaret), Macbeth (Second Witch/Clown), and several others.
While maintaining her acting efforts, she is also the Founding Artistic Director of Match: Lit, her Shakespeare company which helms major productions as well as BARDcore, their monthly reading series - where Shakespeare meets trivia over drinks with fellow Shakesnerds.
Kristin is also a proud volunteer teaching artist with ASTEP (Artists Striving To End Poverty), and has previously worked with Wingspan Performing Arts, CUNY Hunter, and the YMCA. As a musical director and accompanist, she works in venues all over the city, and has arranged and composed original music for numerous NYC theatre companies, including her own Match: Lit (Othello), Everyday Inferno (Iphigenia Among the Taurians), AMiOS' SHOTZ! series ("Shared Communal Space"), and most recently for Victoria M. Fragnito's new play, Scar Tissue. She also accompanies Musical Theater Improv nights at the People's Improv Theater (PIT).
