Julia Sears straddles the world of art and activism to create communication across disparate sectors with similar goals for social justice. You may have seen her work in New York at HERE Arts, Signature Theatre, and La Mama's Experimental Club among others. Her current project is a devised piece on women in the US Military called We Cry Havoc produced by the Society of Artistic Veterans. Trained in classical theatre Julia brings the Bard's work to new audiences by infusing it with dance, music, acrobatics and unconventional storytelling. When not directing Julia works for the National Domestic Workers Alliance the nation's leading voice for dignity and fairness for the millions of domestic workers in the US. Previously Julia has worked with Bond Street Theatre and co-founded Empty Chair Theatre Company, a 501c3 organization created as an educational forum for young theatre artists in the Washington, DC area.
