Long before Madonna, the world was Gaga for Nazimova.

PLACES is the story of trailblazer Alla Nazimova: 1920s silent screen icon, Broadway legend, and probably the most famous star you’ve never heard of. From a Jewish immigrant fleeing Tsarist Russia to the highest paid movie star in Tinseltown, Nazimova was the first female writer, director, and producer in Hollywood. With her visionary avant garde film ‘Salome,’ art house cinema was born. Nazimova's infamous all-women’s ‘sewing circle,’ a term she coined to describe her underground meetings of lesbian and bisexual film actresses in Hollywood, defied the moral and artistic codes of her time—and eventually forced her into obscurity. A trailblazer forced into obscurity, Nazimova will not be silenced.Romy Nordlinger’s multimedia solo performance reimagines one of the most daring and censored artists of the 20th century who tells it like it was… and still is. http://placestheplay.com

"...a superb, striking must-see..."
- Carole DiTosti, Theatre Pizzazz

"Every so often the stars align. In this case those stars are Nordlinger and Nazimova. Channeling the spirit and sensuality of an artist to whom attention must be paid, Romy Nordlinger gives us a tiny window into the complicated life of a complicated and tenacious woman of the theater.” -
- Alexander Dinelaris, Academy Award winning screenwriter of Birdman

"Romy Nordlinger gives a magnetic performance as Alla Nazimova..."
- Darryl Reilly, Theater Scene

"This show will appeal to everyone on so many levels..."
- Eva Heinemann, Hi! Drama
